Integrative Mobility / Flexibility
with Ian MacLeod, founder of Nirvana Strength

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

We will cover important drills and strategies for building foundational strength, mobility, and flexibility specific to the individual's objectives. This primarily involves proper exercise selection and progressive loading focused on structural balance, increased endurance, range of motion, proprioception, and kinesthetic awareness to reach your goals. To ensure a sustainable practice, it is important to understand the basics of developing a program, with sustainability and recovery in mind.

STRENGTH: Fundamental strength skills and training principles

MOBILITY: Shoulder, Joint & Pre-habilitation

FLEXIBILITY: Middle splits, pancakes, Front Splits & Thoracic Bridge

 

Students will be expected to engage in a high level of critical thinking and active creative application of the material. The given teaching methodology is to facilitate autonomy and reasoned analysis.

Ian MacLeod

A former athlete, Ian is redefining health and wellness through mindful, performance-based mobility training. With mindfulness and longevity at the core, Ian’s innovative approach to coaching ensures that the mind is worked as much as the body.

 

Ian has proven successful in creating adaptable and individualized plans for optimal wellness in strength and flexibility training. He is a passionate coach with a practical approach that engages individuals in the journey of their own self-development.

Integrative Mobility I
Upper Body focus

Saturday 13th April 2024

By improving overall function, this workshop aims to reduce discomfort, increase vitality, and promote longevity. Safeguard your joints and execute movements with minimal risk by learning to maximize your potential movement safely and efficiently. Explore the benefits of pre-hab, improved performance, and lasting health through the strategic development of your active range of motion.

Learning Objectives

  • Know how to better combine Strengthening and Stabilizing exercises for greater Functional Structural balance.

  • Gain insights into supplementary exercises to unlock trouble areas of your body.

  • Understand how to apply Inhibition and Lengthening strategies

  • Unlock your Hips, knees and ankles to gain the most from your training sessions. 

  • Learn strategies to address imbalances in and around your joints. 

Flexibility I
Side Splits & Pancakes

Saturday 13th April

14:00 - 17:00 

Increase flexibility to express yourself more freely and discover progressive ways to move by focusing on mobilizing troublesome areas like hips, spine, and shoulder girdle. Utilize integrative and effective flexibility training techniques to realize significant progress in both strength and flexibility, enhancing your overall performance in various aspects of life.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn to effectively position the body for maximal range.

  • Understand how to apply Inhibition and Lengthening strategies

  • Effectively integrate static, dynamic and Neuromuscular stretching to strengthen and stabilize the hips and lower body.

Utilize integrative and effective training techniques to realize significant progress in both strength and flexibility, enhancing your overall performance in your chosen activities and aspects of life.
